Bluth's Original Frozen Banana
Here's my piece for Gallery1988's "There's Always Money in the Banana Stand," a tribute to Arrested Development. The show opens tonight at the gallery's Melrose location.
It's a pretty simple design but it has already been making the internet rounds. I've had several people send me links to sites that have featured the piece:

Dr. Sketchy Drawings
These are some of my favorite sketches I've done from the last several Dr. Sketchy sessions. If you don't know, Dr. Sketchy's is a social event that combines burlesque and figure drawing, with branches located in cities all across the US and in other countries. Apologies if I've posted any of these before, it's been a while since I really looked through all these sketchbooks!
The contest associated with this drawing was to incorporate a Norman Rockwell theme somehow.
I believe this contest was based on pinups and including the concept of a "year" in honor of leap year, so I drew the models in a pinup calender.
I don't remember this contest aside from the fact that including Weekend at Bernie's was thrown in as an acceptable qualification as a last minute joke.
The bottom drawing here was when we were asked to draw the models wearing as many clothes as possible.

Steve Martin Tribute
Here's my piece for the Steve Martin tribute show going on right now at Gallery 1988's Venice location.
I based it on what is quite possibly my favorite Steve Martin movie, Planes Trains and Automobiles. Even as a kid I was always a bigger fan of this style of John Hughes movie rather than his teen drama stuff like The Breakfast Club, which seems to be what my generation remembers him most fondly for.
I got to see Steve Martin perform bluegrass not that long ago and it was seriously one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Granted I'm a big fan of bluegrass, but it was incredible. He closed with King Tut which I could not believe. My friends told me they thought he would do it, but I kept feeling like he would want to emphasize the bluegrass rather than doing much comedy. I think I felt that way because of that incident a while back where a venue actually had to refund everybody's ticket for one of his events because he was there to talk about art and they expected stand up.
I thought about doing a piece based on his music but his band already has some killer posters and promotional artwork.
You can buy a print of this piece here!

Oly Commission
Here's a commissioned drawing I did for a biochemistry student. He spends a lot of time in the lab and likes my character Oly, so he wanted a sciencey pinup of her with a few video game references thrown in.
I was able to sneak this project in just before my schedule exploded and took over every aspect of my life (as if it hadn't already,) plus I just thought it was really cool that somebody asked for a drawing of one of my original characters.
