Marceline & Kim

The Adventure Time art show at Mondo Gallery seems to have been a huge success. I'm told my prints sold out in 30 minutes, so thanks everybody! I've also had a quite few people reach out to me and check out my work after attending the show, so thanks to you guys too!

And since so many Adventure Time fans have been stopping by, I thought it would be a good time to post this piece that I've been working on in the tiny gaps of time between projects. Funny how I choose to draw during my breaks from drawing...

This was a simple crossover idea I had based on the fact that Marceline from Adventure Time and Kim from Scott Pilgrim are sort of similar characters since they are both off-beat rocker girls.

The Real Ghostbusters

A new shirt design that you can vote on now over at Splitreason!

As a kid I always wondered why they changed certain aspects of the Ghostbusters appearance for the cartoon. Especially since they did a good job of linking the continuity of the two versions; even going so far as to explain why they kept Slimer around and changed their uniform colors. My little child brain couldn't decide if the Busters in the cartoon were really meant to be the ones from the movies or not. So this drawing is my idea of what it would look like if you combined the two.

Adventure Time Art Show at Mondo Gallery

I'm very excited to be a part of Mondo Gallery's officially sponsored Adventure Time art show that opens next Friday. I made an album cover sized version of my Marceline drawing for the event and did a very limited print run. I can't believe that show creator Pendleton Ward and voice actor Tom Kenny are going to be on hand for a screening of the show. I really wish I could be there, but it's exciting just to see my name on the postcard:

Here's the press release:

Penn & Teller

Here's one from a little while ago. The misses and I took a Valentines/anniversary trip to Vegas, and I knew we had to catch Penn & Teller's stage show while we there. As I've mentioned on here before I'm a huge fan of Penn Jillette and the TV show Bullshit.

I wanted to give them each a drawing, and I already had one of Penn that I had made for a celebrity themed Dia de los Muertos art show, but that seemed like a weird thing to have to explain to them face to face, especially since I get tongue-tied talking to celebrities I really admire. So I created this new piece and based it around Penn's love of jazz. I gave them each a print and had them sign one for me:

I tend to feel like it would be disingenuous to do something like this for a celebrity only to paperclip a business card to it, like I'm only looking to get a gig or something, so I hardly ever do that.  But both of them seemed to really like the drawing and later I sort of regretted not giving them any way to track down the guy who did this artwork of them. So I contacted Penn on his Facebook page and he was nice enough to reply.
