Ye Olde Mario World

My newest T-shirt design which you can vote on here. It's an old-timey version of the world map from Super Mario World. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun; I really get into stuff with somewhat tedious detail work like this from time to time.

Working on this also took me back to when I was a kid and I really enjoyed going through all the extra materials that came with video games like the boxes and manuals. I used to sit and draw out maps like this for individual levels which I thought was just as much fun as actually playing the game.

I'm thinking this would make a good poster too. Please click on the image to get a much larger and detailed view.

  1. Very awesome. It would make a MUCH better poster than a t-shirt, too.

  2. I would totally buy a poster version of this and frame it. This is the kind of art I would love to fill my house with.

  3. This design is awesome. I voted for it for sure, and I agree that it would not only be a sweet t-shirt, but also an amazing poster for a gamer to have around the house. Definitely getting it no matter what it's printed on, though!

All your art is awesome from what I've seen...keep up the good work :)

  4. Very cool - I would definitely buy a poster of it. Or if you could sell a high-res file and permission to print it, I'd be interested in that too.

  7. Oh man oh man. I'm a huge map enthusiast and Mario 4 fan, I can't express how much I love this!
Everything is perfect, the color theme, the illustrations around the map, their balance, even the contours on the shorelines.
This is nothing short of masterful.

There are couple of remarks, though.
-The bridges are called Butter and Cheese Bridge, together Twin Bridges.
-Castle #4 is located on Cookie Mountain.
-The lake beneath the bridges is Soda Lake.
-Would be awesome if the haunted houses had ghosts circling them.
