Tink
Here's the second piece I did for Acidfree Gallery's Fables and Fairytales show. I originally used it as an entry for a fairytale themed pinup contest, but I was bested by a very nice Cinderella illustration. I made a slightly new version for inclusion in this show, since I hastily made the original during a particularly busy holiday season a few years ago.
Prints of this and my Little Red Riding Hood piece are now on sale! Check out the gallery store for all the details and to purchase some.

Big Bad & Red
Here's a new piece I created for the Acidfree Gallery Fables and Fairytales online exhibition. I did two pieces total, this one being based on Little Red Riding Hood. Prints will be available online at the end of the month, so I'll be sure to post when those go up for sale.
OMG Posters did a small writeup about the show which features more amazing fairytale artwork by several familiar artists, so check that out as well!

Mega Man
Huh, I wonder where the creator of today's TeeFury shirt could have possibly gotten this idea from?
It's so funny to me that I created something that people are actually doing parodies of.
EDIT: I've gotten some increased views on this post so I just wanted to point out that I have no hard feelings whatsoever about this design, I just thought it was something interesting to post about. A few people have told me that it is just a coincidence and I have no reason not to believe them. The thing that made me think otherwise was that, when compared to Mario in my piece, the Mega Man seen here is in the same pose, placed exactly the same in the drawing, and also in his underwear. I believe that the overall idea of a video game character looking in his closet is a simple one and I'm sure plenty of people have had it, but that same idea coupled with these visual similarities are what lead me to believe that my design may have been an influence here, even if it was only on a subconscious level. I know I've included things in my art and later realized that I've actually seen it somewhere else, and I think most artists have had a similar experience at some point.
Bu this leads into something I'd like to bring up: I make it a point not to be stingy with my work because I'm making it for people to see and enjoy. I hate when I visit an artist's website and they have image saving disabled, or a giant, all-encompassing watermark right through the middle of the drawing. I mean I don't want anybody to claim my work as their own or sell it for profit without my permission, but I think the vast majority of people have no such plans. I am very thankful for every single person who takes time to look at my drawings, and I am especially thankful if I somehow manage to inspire somebody with something I've done.

Is This Thing On? 2
Opening tonight is Gallery1988's "Is This Thing On 2: The Weird Year," an art show that pays tribute to stand-up comedians with host "Weird" Al Yankovic!
I decided to base my piece on Lewis Black after I watched a documentary about him a few weeks ago. I've always liked him and even got to see him live when I was in college. The thing I remember most about his show was that he said it was dumb to be a republican or a democrat, which is something I've said forever. It's always gotten me funny looks, so it was great to hear somebody like him yell it through a microphone. I've been lucky enough to meet quite a few of my geeky heroes and I have to say that he tops the list of nicest so far.
Also, it seemed like an obvious joke for any stand-up, but I thought it would be funny to portray him as The Comedian from The Watchmen comics.

Eat Your Art Out V
Here's my piece for Eat Your Art Out, an art show that benefits the LA based Angel City Derby Girls. This was my first year participating and the theme was old-timey carnivals.
I've only seen a few photos but it looks like it was quite a shindig. It also seems to have become a pretty high-profile art show in its own right, judging by the elaborate setup and some of the artists involved. After doing some poking around I noticed that one of the participants was Pierre Bernard, the graphic designer for Conan Obrien's show who they feature in skits from time to time.
